2006 Kawasaki Ninja 500r

2006 Kawasaki Ninja 500r

This was my first street bike. Should be yours, should be your friend's, it's a cheap reliable motorcycle that gets the learning curve started, keeps you entertained for months, cheap insurance, cheap to maintain, sounds mean (with some pipes) and is a relatively quick bike.

Starting off your Motorcycle journey right!

The Motorcycling world is full of adventure and learning a new style of living! What better way to start than on an iconic supersport model, known as a Ninja?

A Parallel Twin to enjoy! 50 hp to start on!

Recently, there is plenty of talk about how much they love the sound of the Yamaha FZ-07. I gotta say, the Ninja 500r sounds a bit better with the right pipes.. I had the Delkevic pipes fitted, and you could hear that glorious, carbureted parallel twin motor screaming down the road.  Weirdly enough, it ran super smooth despite it being carbureted, got roughly 60 miles per gallon for fuel efficiency, stupid cheap to insure, and was a great motorcycle to learn the ropes on.  At 370 pounds, a 30.5 inch seat height, it was perfect to learn how to stop n go smoothly on and a 498 cc motor is plenty to keep you busy with for a while.

The Japanese Built an Awesome Machine!

Kawasaki has always been one of those reliable, dependable motorcycle brands out on the market; presently and in the earlier days of motorcycling.  Starting out with a bike that has all the positive starting points of learning how to ride, with a company that has perfected their product over the years, is a terrific place to start the journey! Skip the Ninja 250/300 machines and pick up an older 500. They're next to nothing on Craigslist, have plenty of aftermarket support. You'll enjoy it for a longer period of time versus the short ownership of a 250.
